A Poet's Voice
by M. Griswold
03172020
I write only to voice what and how I feel.
To pen with rhyme is my spirits joyful zeal.
The verses come to me of their own accord.
Wielding freely through me as a mighty sword.
I haven't learned by any rules being made.
Nor do I judge by rigid, strict standards laid.
But rather I do scribe from my own soul's heart.
Allowing for poetic rhythms to create the art.
Molding each stanza to shape like rich, soft clay.
Twisting and turning their sounds to dance and play.
Each thought laid to canvas for a minds eye's view.
Of feelings and passions that I hold so true.
For when art is restricted by borders vales.
It can no longer bare fruit and truly fails.
The only rule that one must strictly endure.
Is that one's inner voice must stay true and pure.
