I lit a Black Excalibur cigar; the night drifted away. Your gentle voice echoed off high walls. We danced in shadows, where hopes do sway, But fate denied the dream that love recalls. Your gentle voice echoed off high walls, Promises whispered, fading with the dawn. But fate denied the dream that love recalls, A story written, but its chapters gone. Promises whispered, fading with the dawn, The distance grew with every longing sigh. A story written, but its chapters gone. We learned that love can’t teach the heart to lie. The distance grew with every longing sigh, We danced in shadows, where hopes do sway, We learned that love can’t teach the heart to lie, I lit a Black Excalibur cigar; the night drifted away.
