A Picnic of Love
Share with me a picnic of love,
we will arrive in the verdant meadow,
welcoming us to sit under the sweeping limbs
of the willow tree as it provides welcome shade,
I open open up the wicker basket of delights
like the sparkle in your handsome blue eyes,
the afternoon sun peeks on us with warmth,
as we eat the tasty food and drink wine.
We laugh together as we watch a bluebird
spreading its wings and chasing a future mate
against the backdrop of cirrus clouds,
the mating game takes place high above
and below on the grassy and soft ground,
you gently take my hand and hold it in yours,
I am sleepy from the wine and put my head
against your strong shoulder as we nap
and dream about our future together.
