A Phd In Living

To know what to do with your life is not easy, The field for a 'major,' significant ask! To delay higher-ed, after college, a virtue, The face of one's bliss is a chore to unmask. The world that we live in makes change a new mantra, For few will make cars or mine coal their whole life, What's the chance you'll stay married if you have no children? And risk very high you'll have more than one wife! A 'doctor' or 'lawyer' sounds great if it's calling, Tough times come, who'd hire you to work in car sales, For to be overqualified curses job seeker Good luck flipping burgers or cutting toenails. The most common jobs are more service related But pay lower wages (a general rule), It's clear money makes money, but how to get started? Without education, you're smarter man's tool! To choose wealthy parents can help if you're able Still no guarantee (and this too has its price), But the road to success seems to be working smarter, To learn from mistakes is perhaps best advice. But hold to this truth, a true friend is life's treasure, 'Two heads are much better than one' is no joke, And to have a good friend, YOU must love (are you able?) For loving another, means sharing their yoke! In this life, the future is rarely that certain, So live in the moment (but try to think twice!) For the planet we live on, indeed is our future, Environments possible? Desert to ice! Long Tooth June 1st, 2018
