A Peanut Holder

The squirrels are funny They are also smart A peanut holder bought Hung onto a she shepherd's rod No success -he slides downward So he did some thinking He climbed the wooden fence From there he got to the feeder He took the peanut holder Ran off with it in his mouth It was put up for a while The peanut holder gone The yard was searched The nut holder never found The squirrel hid it well

Hello John Gondolf, it is a losing battle with the bird feeder and the squirrels. they will get the bird seeds no matter what or where the bird feeder is placed. Have a nice day my friend.

Darlene, this reminds me of my father who spent the last five years of his life trying to "outsmart" the squirrels. He finally gave up and put out a bowl of corn on the deck next to the kitchen for them. They would rap on the slider with their claws when they were out, chastising him for letting the bowl run out. When he started to love them, everything changed. Thank you for your lovely poem which was my quick reminder.
