Notes About The Poem

A Old Toy

It always hurts to lose someone Especially if you love them so But sometimes it is meant to be There is a loss that you can’t see A loss of joy, inspiration and peace A loss of goodness, faith and dreams A loss of all those things that make You know you’re loved unconditionally It always hurts to lose one you love But sometimes love simply is not enough Your love is taken for granted and thrown To the birds where it lands on fields of Disillusionment, discord and despair All the anxiety that might be so rare That it feels like you must have been there Where love was thrown away like a old toy No longer useful to the child playing games It always hurts to lose someone you love But, in all honesty, it is sometimes for the best Some people are fake straight to the core And don’t deserve the tender love you bestow Some people don’t see the gift of your heart As something worth cherishing above an addiction And they’ll let you go for the cost of a pill Reminding you that their love brings a chill

Alcohol and drugs go hand in hand both take a weak person and make them weaker turning them into something else. It makes them users and abusers of themselves as well as those who love them. It's a slow but sure death of the spirit as well as the body. A fine write my friend and I hope it isn't about someone you really did love. God Bless, JB

Addiction is a multi-headed monster. It seems to win far more often than it loses and scars those who come too close. You have my sympathies.

i think those with good hearts often get hurt the most because the takers of the world use them, then toss them aside...i agree with the saying no good deed goes unpunished because it seems sometimes the more you give the more pain you get good one Gina...love this... hugs and blessings :)
