A Nice Guy
With a deadly combination of smooth and
reasonable, he was a nice guy
He spoke low with a drawl
I slowed down to hear his every word, he was a
nice guy
He came like the wind that threatened
to unsettle my soul, he was a nice guy
He had a uneasy relationship with wealth
He wanted to be effective far more than
he wanted to be rich, he was a nice guy
A strange mix of everything male, yet a
softness only love can see, he was a nice guy.
One day he asked me if he could kiss me
I leaned in and everything felt clear.
He was intriguing and secure, he was a nice guy
He never gave importance to material things
Largely into books, providing ballast for his mind.
For thirty-five years I’ve known him, he is a nice guy
He’s my husband, still a nice guy.
