A New Year Dream When I was younger and naïve, I fell asleep on New Year’s Eve, Imagining when I’d awaken That the world would be smitten: With bells ringing and people singing, Exchanging handshakes, kisses and hugging, With sincere intentions for prosperity, Of peaceful co-existence and shared destiny. When morning came, reality took over. Between the linen, my dream shattered. I felt older and disappointed That yesterday’s tomorrow was no different.
