A New Freedom

...dedicated to John Coltrane Shrieking and squawking, following prophets through uncharted waters, wailing in sustained arpeggios. He mimics constellations, blazing stars in rich profusion, pulling passion into focus with a dark yet supple tone. Religions and mythologies, screams of souls in harsh enslavement, sources for his stark doxologies; charting new boundaries of rhythm and rhyme, a new definition his legacy, growing with time.

Crazy coincedence that I would read this today...I have just started delving into the sounds of Mr. Coltrane!! I will wrap my mind around the music and bridge it over to this fantastic tribute and see if I can connect the dots! Thanks for the words of encouragement...always appreciated! Steve

Unbelievable Kieth. you gave his saxophone a voice and now it can speak words. I'm a huge fan of his work, old stuff with Miles and later spiritual pieces like Ascension and Meditations. There's a quote from him that always stuck with me since I first heard it in high school: "I believe in all religions". i hope I remembered it right. That's the type of saying that fits a man who's biggest hit was called A Love Supreme. I never understood what he meant until recently. Very well done my friend.
