A New Day

Rain drips from the trees
And I huddle to escape the freeze

It was a long time coming that I felt again
Even if all it brought me was pain

I had this delusion that it would be easy
To find love in a world so cold and breezy

But love is complicated when you're lonely
And it's your feelings only

This past week has been full of sorrow
But I'm looking up to a better tomorrow

If alone I must remain in this life
I shall do so with little to no strife

I've waited eight years so no need to rush
So I'll tell my heart to shush

It's a new day and I'll greet it with a smile
As I sit here and watch the rain awhile
