A Nation In Need of God

With vile intensity hatred infiltrates the hearts of men, turning brother against brother, friend against friend, dividing our once great nation. Right is wrong; wrong is right. Confusion reigns as wisdom flounders and hatred's vitriolic verbiage tears down and destroys trust and unity. And all the while, Satan is dancing with glee on the ashes of our hope, and the soul of our nation weeps. O God, save us from ourselves! Very thought provoking and real. Our values have truly been cast into the bin, thus fulfilling Biblical prophecy. Right has become wrong, and wrong right. How unfortunate. However, keep up the good work Kim.

Kim: I read this with tears for the Indian engineer from the company I worked for years ago, was shot down in cold blood simply for being a "foreigner". We did indeed take God out of the schools in the 60's and put "Pot" in "His" place. Now that generation is going crazy with hate. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with all of us on the soup. Keep them coming.oldbuck

Nicely put, well written with poetic flare. Your emotions and wit wrap themselves around your words and we are left in awe. This poem is well written and presents an original viewpoint of a woman's anxieties and fears as she looks at what is happening all around her...and sees a nation in turmoil. Emile.

Hi Kim...you express your feelings with emotion and with clarity. I am afraid that politics is tarnished by people who follow 'ego agendas'. Having said that, I believe that people should use both heart and mind when voting. My grandma used to say: Don't ask for God's help unless you're ready to help yourself. Regards // paul

Thank you, Paul! I really dislike politics, but the blatant corruption is hard to ignore and in reality should not be ignored. Your grandma was a wise woman.

Strong poem, Kim - even though I don't believe God will save us. Only we can do that ourselves. Hopefully.

Thank you, Agnes! I'll agree to disagree with you in that I believe God is the only one who can save us by changing hearts and lives.

It is frightening to witness the resurgence of hate in our nation. Surely, Satan enjoys seeing us behaving so divisively. That last line - it is what I pray for each night. Very powerful write, Kim. Do you think most people understand what is happening? Confusion does seem to reign. Love the quick pace, clever lines and the insight you provide. Excellent writing!

Thank you, Carolyn! Sadly, I don't think most people have a clue to what is happening.

AMEN AND AMEN Kim. I totally agree. Only God can save us now. I pray God will return the common man to his senses and let the insanity be stopped for once. Seems the nation has been in a downhill spiral since the 60's. Great job here. I think a poem should say something and you said a mouthful. From 1 to 7 this is a 10 Bravo. God Bless, JB

Indeed, a downhill spiral since the '60s, Judy, when peace and love reigned. I keep wondering how we got to this point.

I agree with Winged Warrior, but then there is no hierarchy of evil. Time to wake up. Satan or no, action is needed...
