A Muted Landscape

And so The words lay idle Mumbling “Not me! Not me!” For we could be The catalyst for Verse, Or worse. Let us be But words Un-gathered logs Afraid of fire Soundless stones Rolling In sunrise surf A wind Without purpose A rooster Tapping the farmer On the shoulder Whispering “psst” A muted moon Fading silently Into a day Without Poetry

I’m always awed by the way your mind works, John. Some words would be better left unspoken or unwritten, but never yours. You turn silence into screams that should be heard and crowing that should be muted. Your thoughts made me recall ‘Sounds of Silence,’ the version sung by Disturbed.

Wow - I actually find this clever in it's brevity, whatever is your intention John this line "A rooster Tapping the farmer On the shoulder Whispering “psst”" - really speaks to me of a wake-up call. Not all have a voice, but those that do should use it. Fascinating poetry. Kinda like it! (fav)
