A mountain of a mouse
I am a mountain of a mouse
casting shadows ‘round the house
seizing with stealth’s ease
the baited traps delicious cheese
for the shadow of my fangs
gives the house cat nervous pangs
and the thought of my long tail
the house-frau’s heart to fail
for the mastery of the light
casting shadows in the night
has them all seeing creatures
with the most horrific features
creeping ‘round the un-lit rooms
darting past the swinging brooms
stopping for a curtain call
as shadow’s slowly fall
the moon bids night adieu
my shadow life is through
no mountains in the house
just the musings of a mouse
