A Mother's Son
You want something from me that I can not give
You think that I owe you so much just simply because I live
You think that I see you for something better than you are
Automatic respect and loyalty is just a step too far
Like an un-nurtured kitten, I'm now devoid of feelings that you seek
You've spent years punishing me for being 'his' son, looking for 'his' weakness in me
You're confused to see that unlike 'him' I've become
But remember three things before you ask me to kneel
YOU married him, you made me, yes...........but I did not ask to live.
