A mother's arms will make a boy feel warm.
Without her, the world would be strange and cold.
She keeps her darling safe from fear and harm
and offers him a loving hand to hold.
She watches over him where he may go
and always holds him tightly to her breast.
She shields him when the winds of winter blow,
but for her, in the world, he'd be a guest.
So, I hold your picture in my pocket,
and I know that I will no longer cry.
It's safe at home in its precious locket.
We'll meet again, as, in the snow, I die.
Together we will bask in heaven's joy,
Just you and me, your loving orphan boy.
