A Most Magical Cat

I’m not sure, perhaps t’was the hat
Or the way that she hissed and then spat
It seemed t’was as simple as that
Merlin was a most magical cat
Had a pet mouse she kept tastily fat
Which she fed while they’d idly chat
Till she tossed him one day in her vat
And a horned toad now sits where he sat.

This is a fine monorhyme, befitting the season and the contest, which I hope you've entered.
