A Most Creative Caper

Appealing to my better angels, I try once again To write a poem which will appeal to the heart, I pause ever so slightly, wondering where to start I look out my window, it is beginning to rain. The droplets are gathering on the windowpane And I know they are my better angels appearing, Racing to the bottom of the windowsill, endearing I capture thoughts of the common, the mundane. I hurriedly grasp my pen and a sheet of plain paper Scribbling random words that flood into my brain, While listening to the rhythms of the falling rain I come up with a poem about a most creative caper. Two men are dueling in a backwoods field at dawn Seems they have chosen harmless weapons of fun Neither owning a sword, a pistol, or a shot gun One fancies himself a king, the other a lowly pawn.

Thank you, Andrea. I don't know how creative it was, since Brian didn't give it a placement. Ha! The irony is so amusing, I think.

aha, i have found it. My gosh, how did you post SO many poems in just two days?? I could do it, but I need to space my poems out just to get a few comments on each one. I posted a haiku today before my other poem and have not had one comment on it because I did that. Anyway, let me read it now

I sometimes spend four or five hours just keeping up with everything on the site and writing at the same time. I seem to be rather prolific, not intentionally. The ideas just come to me and I write. I think you'll see the tongue-in-cheek in the poem.

This stanza alone is brilliant "I hurriedly grasp my pen and a sheet of plain paper Scribbling random words that flood into my brain, While listening to the rhythms of the falling rain I come up with a poem about a most creative caper."

Thank, Caren. There's a bit of a story behind this one I'll share with you in a Soup Mail sometime. Not today, however. I'm having terrible back pain. The barometric pressure is low here and it's killing me! Not really; figuratively!

Very cool this little chess game, inspired by the rain

It might have had something to do with a conversation I had last evening about the Anachronism Society. They "play" fight, etc., etc., etc. It's all fantasy fun.
