A Most Beautiful Journey

In my many poems
Of a country so rare
Spare me a few minutes
As i take you there

We are Alba
The land of the Scots
Once we meet
We are forget me not

A nation so free
In this world we reside
Bravehearts
Oozing with pride

And the news of today
Confirms my write
For a train journey so beautiful
Has just been named, the worlds best sight

From Glasgow to Mallaig
Gorgeous lochs it does pass
On train journeys the world over
This is above first class

Over the Glenfinnan viaduct
Its the first of its kind
Made of modern concrete
It will blow your mind

The silver sands of Morar
Like gold dust in the mist
Whilst the Atlantic tides desire
They can't take, but they still persist

The train journey i talk about
In this land of mine
It runs from Glasgow to Mallaig
Its " The West Highland Line "

So my friends on the Soup
If you get the chance to travel
Visit my Braveheart land
And watch our beauty unravel

The write is alluring and inviting me to come visit Scotland and enjoy your beautiful homeland. We enjoy train rides in the States that is short ones. We have longed to go on one that would cover several states. Thank you for the comments on my work. Keep your creative and expressive pen flowing. Sara

I admire your pride in your country. This train ride sounds incredible and I would like to see the surrounding lochs for myself one day. I just saw Marty's comment about the kilt and giggled for I know you'd look just like Mel Gibson if you wore one. We American ladies have a deep passion for the men of Scotland; Braveheart certainly worked some magic. Awesome tribute to your homeland! Love, carolyn

Did you stop by Arisaig ? spent my honemoon in the station cottage back in 1960. No electricity just beautiful paraffin lamps..Petrol pumps were open on an honour system, bags of shell fish lay untouched on the shore. A truly heavenly place. Thanks for the memory...Margaret
