A Moment Before Dying.

See the mountains all afire Flaming Appalachians ‘Neath the pastel of October sun Treetops all alight Waves of carmine flame Swaying in soft dance steps Amidst saffron highlights Muted in glowing orange bittersweet The slow falling flares Of autumns sweet inferno Strewing about the mountainside A blanket of dry and weary sighing In softly murmured prayer I wonder Through the birthing rains of spring And the unquenchable thirst of summer Despite it all why is it most beautiful …A moment before dying?

I like the way your images make the ending more powerful, almost entrancing you reader before showing them the light at the end of a tunnel. Great write!

profound. I can relate this poem strangely enough to human death. My father's eyes, the most beautiful, unforgettable eyes before his passing but as your poem is vivid with imagery I know that this natrural wonder you write of is spectacular.

You have a natural gift for vivid expression... '...autumn's sweet inferno,' '...dry and weary sighing,' '...the birthing rains of spring.' Excellent Charles! Best wishes, Keith
