A Modest Promise

I promise Not to promise Waterfalls from careless creeks I vow not to allow Expectations of mountains in handfuls of pebbles I declare to be fair about my dark coated heart I assure not to impure The scarlet blue surrounding you My intent though modest bent Heaven and Earth is what you're worth. 06/04/20

I agree with John Watt, your poems are always very clever, you put thought into them and you know what you are writing about - alway an intelligent, yet charming approach. Blessings, hugs, Jennifer.

'Expectations of mountains in handfuls of pebbles,' to quote you: This is the stuff of most politicians' empty promises. They ought to read this, but never will, I'm afraid. Great write, Michelle!

Wow, I've never been quoted before - and I agree, too many empty promises, not enough results, sadly.

I like how much you say in a compact space, and with rhymes. It shows a lot of thought and care is put into your writing. I love your message too about not over-promising. Had you considering entering the Heaven contest, because I see this as doing very well with its terra firma view of heaven. You are such an intelligent writer, Michelle. Always a pleasure to read.

Actually this was for the 'Promise' contest, but it closed so quickly (another one missed!) Thank you for the suggestion, I may enter it - and always a pleasure to read your work, too.
