A Mirage of Pools and Fountains

Carnage of unrelenting desert sun Sun bakes, flora are impermeable Impermeable unlike those who run Run to hydration, inevitable Inevitable crystallization Crystallization of sweat on their brows Brows no longer yield precipitation Precipitation in their prayers, and how How requisite drink does invigorate Invigorate the flagging runner’s mind Mind looks for something to alleviate Alleviate sun, rising from behind Behind them, misery, ahead, mirage Mirage of pools and fountains, soul carnage. 4/3/16 Chained Shakespearean Sonnet
