A Mild Winter

It's been a mild winter;
grateful for this
in a light jacket
I feel unwrapped early
less encumbered
sniffing the air
like a bear
leaving her den

no cubs though
too old for that,
and have grown
far too wise
not to fear
the responsibility
of loving....
