A Midnight Walk In Winter

There is just something about the night sky that fills me with wonder. If you are out on the prairie during this time of year where there are no city lights to dim them you can see the Aurora Borealis. Up in the Northwest Territories of Canada they are so very bright. A true natural wonder of the world.
The moon is a silver lavaliere,
Hung in a navy blue sky.
As I walk the quiet streets of town,
I give a gentle sigh.
All is finally quiet now,
Restful, peaceful, still,
And looking up I see a sight,
That gives my heart a thrill.
Countless stars adorn the sky,
Like diamonds lain on velvet,
And I alone am witness to,
The heavens treasure secret.
All others locked behind their doors,
Lie in peaceful slumber.
They miss the beauty that I see,
They miss the silent wonder,
Of the diamonds and the silver,
That decorate the sky.
They miss the matchless beauty,
That chills and thrills my eyes.
