A Message From Across the Pond

It felt like Christmas
on that late September night
in the airport waiting anxiously
for you to step off the plane.

I'm still recalling
that first time I saw your face
and all the things you ever said,
they still fill me full of life.

And I wonder why,
as I close my eyes to sleep, I still
feel happy, though our love is
forced to wait.

So I say your name
out loud for all the stars to hear
and for the wind to whisper to you,
everything will be alright.

And I hear your voice
in the morning rays of sunshine
breaking through the night storm
giving me courage

to face another day
of being parted, having to hold
our hearts at bay until the time
our promises are made

Thvia that is my predicament exactly. I know too well the feelings you describe. He is not in another country but might as well be for now. Our lives are poles apart but somehow we found each other. We have been together/apart for almost 3 years but talk every day. Thank you for sharing this piece.

Likewise, John. I wrote this while my husband and I were dating long distance. We did that for 5 years before we got married. It was always so difficult when we had to separate and go back to our respective countries without the other. I pined for him. It was wonderful.

What a wonderful love poem, Thvia. I still remember the first time I saw my late husband's face. For me, it was love at first sight, but I had to wait quite a while for him to come around. It was worth the wait and yours will be too! Love, Carolyn

Hi Thvia :) reading this made me smile-- a very heartwarming write and conveys love quite well despite the distance, or like you said "across the pond" -- really like your title btw :) how nice to know that your love has withstood the test of distance...nikko :)
