A Man of Thirteen

...a self-portrait

I made thirteen but then I froze
and now I'm fifty-five,
my inner child is still right here
it's stuck inside alive,
surviving, there may still be time
to cultivate the brat,
to show him just the hell who's boss
and pin him to the mat!

Hi to you, Keith! I don't know if I'd "pin him to the mat!". More like something one should protect and nurture?:) Can be useful to have around. In here, it can be like a poetical surgery.:) This is fun, and extremely well thought out! When my mom was in her late 70"s..she threw herself onto a mound of snow and made an angel for the kids..hehe We loved and appreciated her 'inner child'. Hope you're well and happy. God bless you and yours..Love, Mikki

You go, Keith! Actually, i just wrote a nonet about this very subject, I will post it for you today. :) My sone is almost 13 - yikes!!! I dread it. I am 36, but i swear I'm 18. I have never felt older than 18 either. A perpetual teenager - great! lol loved this, Kristin

Delightful write. I'll be 46 next week and still feel like a little girl. Then again there are days when I feel about 100 and counting. Don't be too hard on the child after all he seems like a good boy on the whole and it's almost Christmas! Great write. Love Robin

I read once an essay for Emmerson called "Self-Reliance" where he mentions that a child is the one whio is free and celebrates individuality for he does what he wants...But, sometimes a child does get into trouble and needs a boss :)...Just like Carrie said "Young at heart"~always Fresh~ Sara...
