A Lovers Note
Gentle waves rolled in so white and fluffy
from a sea so blue it made me feel happy
I paddled bare feet in it's warm white foam
all of my thoughts so far from home
when all at once I saw bobbing there in the waves
a message in a bottle- was someone hoping to be saved?
I opened up its rusty lid- a lovers note which said-
'I love you so with all my heart-why did we ever have to part'?
I wondered for whom this note was meant
and, from whose heart it had been sent
I stood and pondered for a while-then sent it back to sea
you see I know this lovers note was meant for someone
but that someone was not me.
