A Lover's Heart

I want to feel the rush,
Of falling in love again,
Getting to know your quirks,
Feeling my heart quiver,
When your hand accidentally brushes mine,
Talking for hours on end,
Laughing needlessly into the night,
But we have long passed those times,
For years now I have known you,
Awoke to your gentle face,
For years we have been happy,
Angry, brokenhearted,
Not at all like when we started,
For I know too much,
Know the rhythm of your touch,
Know your laugh,
Your dreams,
Your desires,
But what I want,
Is for you to set my heart on fire,
For the flame has long since dulled,
The spark is catching nothing,
Except a barren mold,
But yet,
I couldn't trade it for anyone else,
In this entire world.

This is how I feel tonight. Does that even make sense?

It makes perfect sense to me, Charli. Blow on the ember so it doesn't die. Well written. Thank you for sharing your inner thoughts. ~ Lin ~

Thank you Lin. I appreciate it deeply. I have been with my boyfriend for five years. I just sometimes miss the old days in which we had just met.
