Notes About The Poem

A Lot of Work To Do

“What do you want to be when you grow up?” Her parents asked…
“A bird!” she said with glee.
“I want to glide across the sky
I want to play up in the trees.”

“Well, come on,” they said each grabbing one hand…
without ever asking why...
“We have a lot of work to do…
if we’re going to teach you how to fly.”
