A Long Tough Ride

It’s been a long, tough ride
And I’ve been working like a Mom
It’s been a long tough ride
My heart is ticking like a bomb
I know my duty it was
To work and manage the house
But soon I’ll feel so lost

When she’s gone
Things will not be the same
When she’s gone
Oh how my heart will grieve

It’s been a long, tough ride
And I’ve been working like a slave
It’s been a long, tough ride
My mind is reeling like a tape
I love my baby so much
I know my heart will be crushed
Yet I will be alright

When she’s gone
Things will not be the same
When she’s gone
Oh how my heart will grieve

It’s been a long tough ride
I should be happy to be free
It’s been a long tough ride
I should dancing in the breeze
But when I think of the world
She has to live in and work
I’ll still be on my knees in prayer
Because it’s scary out there
But we will be alright
It’s been a long tough ride

This is so sad and uplifting at the same time, like a mother bird watching her baby fly for the first time, let me brush a tear away, well penned, dear heart, just lovely. And thanks so much for your kind comment on my poem, Fathomless as the Sky, gosh I could have won my own contest(lol)but fun aside, I really appreciate your input and I am wishing you the best of luck with this fab poem in John's contest, a winner to me....

One word " AMAZING " i have never been the Beatles biggest fan, but HEY! > they did write some brilliant songs. If Paul or Ringo read this one, you can be sure they would sing along to it >> good luck in John's contest Audrey, its gonna take some entry to beat this one >> James
