A Lonely Silence
At times the echo of my voice,
lingers far too long.
Something that wasn't my choice.
But results when another has gone.
Being alone I have found,
how loud silence can be.
So I speak, creating sound.
Carrying on a conversation with me.
I ask and answer my own questions,
and laugh when I say something funny.
I consider my own suggestions,
listening to my advice about money.
A lonely silence, all that you hear.
But you are unable to walk away.
It is within, so it's always near,
sadly, this companion will stay.
So I fill the hours of the day,
talking nonstop to no one there.
The heartfelt words that I say,
mean nothing, going nowhere.
