A Life More Ordinary

I long for a life more ordinary
no longer confused by the past
I step out of the shadows 
into a sun full of a warmth like I've never felt
a freedom drips from my veins 
like life that I use to numb
looking ahead with fear, hope, and peace
knowing things have finally changed
I walk ahead
to a future full of possibilities 
the demons have been locked back into the abyss
I can hear their screams
but they no longer torment me
their rants get lost in the distance between
