A Life In the Fire
Rushing in with pipe in hand
Trying hard to make your stand
There's fire blazing all around
You don't know where you are bound
One moment you are knelt down low
Nozzle in hand at full flow
Next thing you know, everything is ablaze
You just can't help but be amazed
The way you feel when time is near
Makes you think of everything dear
You think of how you've lived your life
And wonder if you did it right
In the dark you feel alone
A bad feeling, down to the bone
You wonder if you'll make it through
To see another sky of blue
You think about the ones you love
And you hope that God above
Is with you in this time of need
To help you to perform this deed
You realize that the risk is great
But if your time has come, it's fate
I will give my life to save others
Especially for the lives of my brothers
