A letter to beloved

My love, I have been wondering.
All these years, I have done nothing but wonder.

But these days, I feel.
I feel us growing closer and closer—day by day, inch by inch, touch by touch.

I see you in every form of love the world offers me.
In the random stray that looks straight into my eyes before walking toward me.
In the leaf that falls perfectly into my palms.
In the sunlight resting on my face with just the right warmth, just the right shade of gold.

These small moments of tenderness remind me of you, and of the life I dream we will someday share.

I remember you in my grief too.
In the moments I realise I have lived in many houses, and yet never found a home.
When those once called my own turn into strangers with the coldest hearts.
When I feel like a mere possession to some, a future investment for fame to others.

Then I think of you.
Of a love where I can be forgiving instead of sorry.
Where I can feel thankful instead of indebted.
Cherished and adored, instead of displayed to the world as a possession

And suddenly, loving no longer feels frightening. It is freeing.

When I think of you, I feel loved from within.
And even when this skin one day turns to ash, I think my heart will still remember the colour yellow—
for all the days you smiled upon the sight of me.

Your presence alone is my strength.
And for you, my love, I shall unlock every untouched corner of my heart and fill you into every empty space until void comes to an end
My heart, my life, my breath—
all yours.

I am yours.
