A Letter

I glance at your name
Once more,
There it lay on paper,
Etched, so surely.
I questioned myself and whether
I now wanted to send this to you
Many years have passed
And we’re now both
On separate continents
Each with a family
Each with a life
Now the music comes to my heart
That of a song, played so long ago,
For you and I
We were each to sit and listen to a song
And remember our days together
Yet you were alone on a balcony
And I was alone on mine,
Far away from each other
And so, my letter to you will not be sent
Rather, I will place it in my box of memories
With letters written to you.

Dear Reem, your poem The Letter is an extremely beautiful picturization of love lost -incredibly true. It has happened in many lives. There is an Urdu couplet which translates as under: My episode is endowed with such glory Every listener claims it to be his story. Thanks for your praise of my poem You Didn't Come. --Mohammad

This poem moved me.....how many of us have someone who was so much a part of us in the past, yet both of us have moved on, to different places, to different lives. We never forget, yet we never can go back again. Very meaningful words in your poem. ....Sincerely, Carrie
