A Lazy Summer Scene - a Duo-Rhyme

Iced tea's sipped from a mason jar. Lemon sun squirts light from afar. Ruffled parasols relieve some from relentless heat as green thumbs plant colorful chrysanthemums. Barefeet tap to the earth's rhythm. On sighing summer breeze, bees hum. Perched on the front porch swing, I strum a simple chord as neighbors come and join the carefree song. They drum to the lazy day's mellow bars until our light shines from the stars.

Rhonda, I so enjoy seeing enjambment in a poem like this. Your entry came along toward the end of my contest and I had already fallen in love with Carrie's and then I saw this one, and I just adored it too. Your poem is so delightful. You have captured perfectly the imagery of this lazy summer scene. Congrats on your number one place!
