A Lady's Man

Tall and tan, velvet skin aglow His smile, a film star's photo Sure of himself, he walked with a swagger A lady's man, his smooth tongue a dagger Talented too, a budding young artist Painting portraits, positively the tartest Portrayals of la forma femme you ever did see A lady's man, footloose and carefree He'd ply them with wine, lure them with words inviting them to his studio with clichés so absurd But they fell for him hard, he played the game well as he dragged them to bed for a night of lovemaking in Hell... They awakened the next morning to an empty bed Their fast-talking artist had conned them and fled A lady's man to the end, footloose and carefree His life ever-lonelier, an empty sex-spree

You describe them so well - God's gift to women kind, they think! There are some around, and they need their just deserves which I am sure not surprisingly, one day in their poor miserable existence, they will get! There are women like that also! Great write, well penned. Hugs, Jennifer.

Intriguing comment, Jennifer. I kind of forgot that there are women like this too. I recall some now, in my distant, foggy past. Thanks for the comment! :) gw

He sounds like the loveliest artist ever. HA! I am so hoping he is fictional!

This is, for better or worse, a portrait of an actual artist as a young man. ~ gw

Hello Gershon … practically all these indulging people end up lonely, sad, and confused, but can't understand why. Good looks don't last forever - thank you Gershon - Lindsay

Thanks. (Btw. This is SO not me!!!!). …. This is based on a fellow I actually knew pretty well. He repulsed me with the way he treated women, but he sure knew his art. :) gw

First, I am intrigued that as a man you stepped into the emotions of a woman used but I have always thought feelings of betrayal are the same for all people and apparently you do, too, which, to me, shows how evolved you are. Kudos there. My teasing thought was oh, is this about his own youth - ha! A cautionary tale for sure that has the whole package of rhyme, flow and interest. It is the 'empty' part that many don't get - so glad you ended with that truth. Write on ... CayCay

Wow. Your comment really nails everything, CayCay, esp. that it IS a recollection of a fellow I knew in my early 20's. I knew this fellow very well, and I saw how he used women, and how bitter they were about it... And he kept getting away with it. Thank you for you in-depth analysis. Best wishes, gw
