A Lady Named Joan

There she came walking up the street,
Taking each step in stride not missing a beat.

For there was only two cars left,
When she climbed up the uneven steps.

When she stepped onto my domain,
I knew her face but I didn’t know her name.

Moments later after she faded away,
I regret the words that I didn’t get to say.

I was truly blessed for such a time,
Not seizing the moment’ll never leave my mind.

The lady who helped to inspire me,
Came up to the church and stood next to me.

When she asked if there was an event that night,
Her presence alone filled me with delight.

When all of my friends were not around,
The author of my dreams came to town.

I’ll never forget there standing alone,
Up from the street came a lady named Joan.
