A Knotty Nightie

A naughty knight, his maiden sought,
Had high hopes they might tie the knot.
And though they ought, or so he thought,
’Twas all for naught, disaster-fraught,
Forgot how tied her nightie knots.
She, humored not, said Gute Nacht!

Thanks, I had lofty expectations for English sonnets and the nobler forms, but I seem to be tracking the limericks and tongue twisters!
