A Journey
Come, let me take your hand and lead you
for we shall journey together through the night
and on our way we shall witness shattered dreams
be brave for we shall see such grief and together-
witness their cruel destruction.
Yet, also we may see smiles as they slumber
dreams of love and hope- we shall not linger there
for love is nothing but an illusion, a trick-
and all too soon leaves as migrating birds in autumn
who leave the harshness of a land barren and bare.
We shall hear waves as they crush on a stony shore
see the moon as it illuminates the ocean- a poor reflection
of their silly dreams destined to die
let us hear the bedside clocks in their endless ticking
time cannot heal their infected wounds.
And, this is how we shall leave them as the sun rises
alone in their sorrow and despair
our journey at its end as we return to rest once more.
