When I think of my Dad, I am filled with happiness,
he had a happy-go-lucky outlook on life in general;
such a carefree soul, even to the point of reckless,
but totally lovable and filled his family with gladness.
One time, Mom and I were having tea,
when the telephone rang, it was our neighbor;
"Do you know Mr. is hanging off the roof!"
Yep, there he was dangling . . .
Another time, he was trimming branches off a tree-
"Sweetheart , would hold this branch for me?"
The next thing I knew I was holding up a huge tree,
when I could not hold it anymore, it crashed down on us.
Then, there was the day he was trimming the hedge,
"I cut myself," he said calmly . . .
He was unconcerned, Mom and I started screaming,
his finger was hanging by only skin!
In later years, he would hold up that crooked finger,
"See this, he would point, it got damaged in the war!"
Oh Dad, you were such a delightful and joyful character,
I could tell a hundred happy stories.
