"a Horse of a Different Color!"

The Wizard of Oz....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"But he is not really a wizard," she said
"Standing behind this curtain
That he has drawn...."
The lyrics of a song
Drifting through the air
The Goo Goo Dolls....'Broadway'
"See the young man sitting
At the old man's bar
Waiting for his turn to die...."
Is what she says
Well, is what she implies?
"He is no wizard," one agrees
For he is much to like
The Tin Man...."
"Or even The Scarecrow
The Cowardly Lion"
Another chimes in....
As they chide, then giggle
While passing their days away
Blinking their eyes
And turning their heads....
Muting the sounds, of a song
The Goo Goo Dolls, and, 'Broadway'
"He's no wizard," he said
While whiling away the hours
Within these ironies, just
Waiting, for their turns to die....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Follow the yellow brick road!?

Ouch..although I do find this a fine piece of writing, I probably did miss it's true point and meaning. I'm extremely visual, so I can see each character, and having watched part of it recently..they are even more vivid. I had kept wondering about Toto..he was always on cue.:) So that is why I said he was living in his moment. Anyhow, now I see and understand the significance of the 'road' here...so sorry if I offended you. God bless you and yours..best wishes..Love to you, Mikki

Oh well....but then there was Toto, living within the moment, and enjoying each and every second (or seemily did)? Perhaps no a wizard nor a familiar...but he didn't need to pretend for he just was.:) This movie played on TV about 2 weeks ago.I did start watching it again, for about the upteenth time.:) Do you feel it was right for them to follow this 'yellow brick road?' Each had their own particular need...Dreams and wishes may be followed through? God bless you and yours, Johh! Luv2u Mikki :)

Hello John! Well I looked at Big & Rich's CD of the same name (great album btw) but didn't get any clues there (although there is a track called Live This Life). I think Christie is right about the clue being in the title, but this saying means "something else entirely". Very enigmatic; could be leading us to or away from the meaning. Maybe it's simply about the different kinds of people we meet on this road called life. Whatever it means, it is great. Love, Nigel

Hmmm, I'm almost afraid to comment! lol I get from this that fakery exists in most, not even knowing why they follow, they just do - not looking inward, but following blindly, unsure why...following the crowd? I don't know - enlighten us within this one, John, love Kristin

Lifes journey. The road to salvation and life. Beautiful John as usual. Your clever ability shines as I struggle to keep up with such astute level of academia. Love you my brother Michael Torres
