A Hint of Fall

At last, the breeze is cool enough To garner some respect, Though it's not here for very long, The forecasters suspect. Another heat wave's on its way 'Cause from what I recall, This very often happens As the summer turns to fall. I so enjoy this little taste Of cool; what a relief! The heat has skulked away Without a word, just like a thief. But just as thieves will strike again, Especially when dared, We must remember summer's Still around, and be prepared.

Excellent reprise of the annual summer/fall forecast, be it New York, be it Chicago. ~ Gershon

It is still, without a pause, very hot and too dry in deep South Texas, Ilene...but I am accustomed to that and even somewhat pleased.....Your relief, even though temporary, is well conveyed in your poem, and I hope you have the kind of fall and winter weather you prefer, without extremes or dangers.

I enjoyed this interlude into fall Ilene. We had several cooler days because of hurricane Lane passing by and it was only a tropical storm here on my island and quite pleasant for this time of year. I adore fall. : )

I do not like this sage reminder, because I am rather LOVING the cool soft breezy weather, Ilene. I like your poem though of course!
