Notes About The Poem

A Heart Full of Love

Her energy exploded through the morning light
And I wandered – did the sun wake her?
Or, was it her who woke the sun?
Her spirit, brisk and bouncing
On wings of eagles
She soared
Alive

It was only after I saw her weighed down by
Old age – page after page of pain
Burning through her rays
Of robust enthusiasm
That I felt stunned
By her lively
Life

She left this world at the age of 89
And I was startled by her death
Despite her age, her archaic
Wistfulness, warming me
With mystical breaths
The loss was as
Animated
As her
Soul

Now she lives in heaven
Where Jesus knows
Her flaming fire
Flamboyant
And wild
As her
heart

She was more than a daughter
A sister, a mother
A grandmother
She was one
Who knew
How to
Love

I agree with Bill. This is a remarkable tribute. My mother is coming up on this age and starting to have problems. It makes a person think. Time is so short!
