A Great Idea
The principal asked me if I would do counseling with a four-year-old.
I am licensed K-12, but I told her I would.
The issue was hitting.
The child was big-eyed, handsome, and enormously charming.
I told him that as the school counselor,
it is my job to make sure everyone has friends.
He told me he does not have any.
I told him that he could get a lot if he made sure he did not hit anyone.
I also congratulated him on not hitting anyone all day that day.
(He was earning a sticker sheet).
After our talk he said “I’ve got a GREAT idea.”
“What is it?”
“I will kiss everybody.”
Uh-oh. New discussion.
He told me that he has ten brothers and eleven sisters.
so I said “If I say to your Mommy, ‘wow, you have twenty-two children! What will she say?”
“She will say I lied,” he told me “because I am lying.”
He is charming and truthful!
A winning combination if you ask me.
