A Giant Pumpkin

A giant pumpkin
With the fruit scooped out for pie
A Halloween treat
I make a Jack-O-Lantern
And grin at its glowing face

For Susan’s tanka contest

Cool one, Jack, and here is something you HAVE to try. Take the seeds out and do NOT throw away. Clean them, dry them on paper towels and then cook them on a buttered cookie sheet till brown. they are so yummy. I do not crack them open like the sunflower seeds. Just eat them whole!

It is fun for adults and children alike to carve a pumpkin and enjoy it for a few days, even better to make a pie or pumpkin soup from them. I enjoyed your poem as it brought back such Halloween fun memories. Mahalo

YES! Thank you Jack for a glorious Halloween Jack-O-Lantern! With the glowing face and all! And we do use the insides for pumpkin pie...sometimes! Some of the pumpkins don't have very good insides for pie! We usually have thirty something Jack-O-Lanterns on our front porch for Halloween! We carve a pumpkin, at least one per day, all the way up to Halloween! It keeps everything fresh for Halloween! I usually have two or three favorites! Done many so far! This is an awesome write, Great Work!!
