A Funny Thing

Jealousy is a funny thing. When you feel you deserve The most, the best, the very first Or when you feel you can give The most, the best everytime- But then another is looked to. A seed of jealousy eventually sprouts When forced to covet What you feel belongs to you. Roots of biitterness grow In anger on a stem of frustration With leaves of depression, Watered by self pity, confusion And tinged by the heat Of hatred and humiliation. Your flower wilts and dries Being choked by this weed In need of water and sun- Timely words and Acts of kindness, Like the dew of Mt. Carmel. The morning's healing mist And tears of yesterday's grief Accompanied by forgiveness Will scorch the tares and Will bind your wounds And mend your broken heart. You will be nourished. You will blossom And eventually laugh again.
