A Frog's Life
Friend, it ain't so easy bein' a frog
I lie for hours with my eyes wide open
All the while smellin' this old midewed log
Watchin' for bugs, just watchin' and hopin'
You may not know it, a human and all,
But bugs is gettin' scarce and dang near rare -
What with poisons at your beck and call -
And I'll find my lunch, but who knows just where
I fin'ly see a bug in my left eye
But a snake's watchin' me in the right one
He don't see the hawk watchin' him go by -
It is hard to tell which of us is done
Now I see a kid on the river bank
With a brand new gun, a Sears twenty two
He's anxious to give that trigger a yank -\
One of us is plugged, I'm wonderin' who
Just eatin' lunch ain't what it used to be
Next thing you know there'll be a barkin' dog
This peaceful swamp ain't peaceful as you see
Friend, it ain't so easy bein' a frog
