A Friend I Never Met

I have a friend I’ve never met
You ask how can that be?
I’ll try to explain as best I can
Then hopefully you will see.

Poetry is our connection
We write them for others to see
But there really is no comparison
He’s much better at it than me!

His poems are really well varied
Some funny, some happy, some sad.
Some fiction, some true or nostalgic
You feel sorrow and sometimes feel glad.

He has my admiration
For the talent he displays.
His imagination sparkles
In oh so many ways.

So that’s the friend I’ve never met
Was there ever any doubt?
I hope that Bob don't mind
he's the one I write about!

Hopefully he'll keep writing poems
on which I now depend
and though I have no right too
I'm proud to call him friend. (My friend Bob H)

You picked a wonderful fella to "call friend," Ralph. Everything you say is true. He has tremendous writing talent and a kind heart. We're so lucky he joined Poetry Soup. As soon as I started reading his work, he became an instant favorite for me. Terrific tribute to a deserving man from someone anyone would be blessed to call "friend." Love, Carolyn
