A Foot In Mouth

A Foot in Mouth

A foot in mouth is easy
The First Amendment says you may
Chokes you and tastes awful
Always there, for what you say

Do not let the words flow free
Even if the President
Cannot make the words return
To the place, from which, were sent 

Remember what old Teddy said,
When you think you should attack
Walk softly, but carry a big stick
Before you speak the smack

When speaking to another
And before your words are sent
Where will your foot be headed?
Yours or the President's

Wise words indeed and i think we can all benefit from your poem even Mr President! My hubby says engage brain before opening mouth... but sometimes i fail to heed his wise advice and put my foot in it!:-) hugs Jan xx
