a fly on the wall

War here, war there.
Fighting over what — long gone.

We remain a fly on the wall,
hands tied, mouth shut —
yet it all echoes in those cries.

Victory somewhere, despair elsewhere.
A son comes home; a son lies six feet under.

Again, to win — over what?
Is that really a win?

God didn’t make countries or thrones;
God made humans — with heart and soul.

Yet we remain a fly on the wall,
hands tied, mouth shut.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Welcome to Poetry Soup. I welcome you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.

Congratulations on your contest entry being featured on homepage today. Way to go. As a contest, it reads like a good contender to me. Thank you for sharing it with us. It is sad for so many reasons that mankind is stilling raging war on their fellowman. Sara K

Thank you for your invitation to read your poems. If you read other people's poems, some of them will comment on yours and that is the best way to get comments, that is, to comment on others. Sara K
